Relationship and Sex Education Consultation Stage 1 Meeting - THANK YOU and Next Steps |
|
A massive thank you to the 15 parents that attended the Consultation Stage 1 forum on Wednesday this week. With the governing body having to formally agree the policy it was also wonderful to have 3 of our parent governors and 2 staff governors in attendance who have all reported how useful they found the session and discussions with parents and staff.
The discussions and feedback from the event will now enable us to adapt and change our scheme of work and update our policy ready for the next stage of consultation with the whole parent body.
At the end of the meeting, we outlined the next steps we will be taking as a school:
· Collate and review all parent and other stakeholder responses
· Update lesson content based on feedback from the evening but also to include edits around the legal age of consent to make this more prominent in lessons (ready for next school year)
· Make adjustments to the draft policy based on feedback from stakeholders (this will also include some changes to the content and delivery time of content in year groups)
· Publish new updated policy by the second half of the summer term for the whole parent body consultation and received comments
· Adopt the policy/content if required after full consultation
· Aiming to adopt the revised policy on the 7th of July at last Full Governors Meeting of the school year (if date missed we will hold until September meeting)
· Update any lessons and content ready for the 2022 Academic year (however this may need more time but have until later in school year before delivery begins)
· Publish finalised policy to new intake parents in September
· Before delivery starts in all year groups next year fully inform parents of content
We know a small number of parents got in touch saying they could not attend the meeting and it has been excellent to also receive comments from them.
If you have any comments on the Relationship and Sex Education that you would like to make now then please do email mdowns@highcliffeschool.com. There will also be an opportunity for further comments in the next stage of the consultation.
Thank you again for engaging in such an important topic. |

Hengistbury Head Writing Competition 2022 |
|
This local competition is in its eighth year and entries are welcomed from anyone with an interest in writing. This year, they are using a quote from William Wordsworth as the starting point for themes and ideas:
“Come forth into the light of things,
Let Nature be your teacher.”
What has nature taught you? Perhaps patience, healing, appreciation, relief, survival, a different view of things, respect, or something else? Use your own experiences to write a poem, a piece of prose or a short story. The competition is free to enter and all the information and rules can be found on our MyWrite site (Highcliffe.School/L/MyWrite). Happy writing!
